Our People
Mary S. Croft, CPA - Shareholder and Firm Manager
Ms. Croft was born in Scottsboro, Alabama, and graduated from Woodville High School in 1976. She earned a BSBA from the University of Alabama in Huntsville where she graduated with highest honors in 1980 with a major in Accounting.
Ms. Croft joined the firm upon graduation and passed the CPA examination in 1982, becoming a partner in 1985. Her primary focus is on all areas of taxation and small business write-up services.
Mary and her daughter, Elizabeth are members of Agape Baptist Church in Scottsboro.
Gene Gossett, CPA - Shareholder and Audit Manager
Mr. Gossett graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1985. He earned a BSBA from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 1991 where he earned a major in Accounting.
Mr. Gossett passed the CPA examination in February 1993 and was issued Alabama Certificate #5777. He joined the firm in 2001, becoming a shareholder in 2006. His primary focus is Audits of Financial Statements, Municipal Audits and assisting small businesses with the implementation and use of Quickbooks accounting software.
Gene, and his wife, Jennifer, have two daughters, Mary Catherine and Anna Leigh. They are members of Center Point Baptist Church in Scottsboro.
Gordon Gossett, CPA – Shareholder and Manager
Mr. Gossett graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1987. He served in the United States Navy from 1989 through 1993. Upon completion of his enlistment, he earned a BSBA from Jacksonville State University in 1997 with a major in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Alabama in 2006.
Mr. Gossett passed the CPA examination in 2011 and was issued Alabama Certificate #11524. He joined the firm in 2009, becoming a shareholder in 2018. He is a Member of the American Institute of CPAs and Alabama Society of CPAs. His primary focus is audits and business consulting services.
Gordon, and his wife, Amanda, have two children, Ben and Maddie. They are members of Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Don W. Croft, CPA - Shareholder Emeritus
Mr. Croft was born in Albertville, Alabama and graduated from Albertville High School in 1961. He earned a B.S. at Jacksonville State University with a major in Accounting and minor in Economics. Afterward he attended Banking School at the University of Virginia.
Mr. Croft passed the CPA examination in 1969 and holds Alabama Certificate #880. He is a Member of the American Institute of CPAs and Alabama Society of CPAs, and the Scottsboro Rotary Club. His expertise is in Estate and Financial Planning.
Mr. Croft has been semi-retired from the firm since January, 2018. Mr. Croft has a son, Chris and a daughter, Elizabeth. He is a member of Agape Baptist Church in Scottsboro.
Stacy L. Radon - Senior Staff Accountant
Mr. Radon graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1991. He earned a BS from Athens State College in Athens, Alabama, with a major in Accounting.
Mr. Radon joined the firm in 1996, where he works in all areas of taxation and auditing. He is also the treasurer of the Twenty First Century Council (Impact Learning Center).
Stacy and his wife, Christy, have one daughter, Megan and one son, Will. They are members of Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Delaine Hancock - Person in Charge of Write-up Services; Bookkeeping Department
Ms. Hancock graduated from Vidalia High School in Vidalia, Louisiana in 1986. She attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.
Ms. Hancock joined the firm in 1989 where she works in all areas of bookkeeping and payroll services.
Delaine has two daughters, Jamie and Kellie and one granddaughter. They are members of Hodge Baptist Church in Dutton, Alabama.
Our History
Gant, Croft & Associates, P.C., was founded in 1950 in Scottsboro, Alabama, by John W. Gant, CPA. Mr. Gant practiced accounting in Scottsboro for 30 years, retiring from public practice in 1980. At that time, he sold his practice to Don W. Croft.
Mr. Croft has owned and managed the Accounting Firm since 1980, and admitted Mary Croft as shareholder in 1985. Together they have grown the Practice to where it is today. In 2006 they added another shareholder to the Firm, Gene Gossett, CPA.
The Firm has a variety of services, with expertise in Taxation, Banking, Governmental, Financial Planning, and other areas of Accounting and consulting.
